If you’re like me, there’s usually not enough time for such culinary adventures. So, instead, I opt for delicious, simple, and filling recipes to feed my family. That’s why this air fryer chicken parmesan recipe has become a regular at our house.
The best part about this recipe is that you can create it quickly without pan frying.
Pan-frying chicken can be time consuming, extra messy, and less safe than using an air fryer. Plus, this recipe is healthier than traditional chicken parmesan because you can avoid unhealthy oil and fry with air.

Ready to make your own air fryer chicken parmesan tonight? Here’s what you’ll need to get started creating this Italian comfort food tonight:
- boneless skinless chicken breasts
- flour
- bread crumbs
- egg
- milk
- tomato sauce - 14 - 16 ounces
- brown sugar
- minced garlic
- seasoning
How to Make Healthier Chicken Parmesan
Follow these simple steps to enjoy a delicious, healthy chicken parmesan at home this week.
Start by slicing the chicken breasts into large pieces, and sprinkle with the garlic salt, seasoned salt and pepper (see photo).
Place the flour and bread crumbs into a dish, and mix well.
In another dish, add the egg, and milk, and whisk together.
Dip the chicken in the flour mixture, then in the milk/egg mixture, and back in the flour.
Place the breaded chicken in the air fryer, and when the basket is full, spray the chicken with the Olive oil spray.
Set the time for 12 minutes, and cook the chicken.
Turn the chicken halfway through cooking, and spray with Olive oil spray.
Let the chicken finish cooking.
While the chicken is cooking, place the tomato sauce in a heavy saucepan, add the garlic salt, seasoned salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, sweet basil, minced garlic, and brown sugar, and stir all together over medium heat until the sauce is bubbly.
Turn off the heat, and set your sauce aside until the chicken is done.
When the chicken is finished cooking, open the air fryer, and top your chicken pieces with the tomato sauce, then place slices of Parmesan cheese on top of the tomato sauce, and sprinkle it with finely chopped parsley (optional, of course).
Place your chicken parm back in the air fryer for 2 minutes, until the cheese is melted and slightly browned on top. YUM! YUM! YUM!

Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan
Ingredients
- 1 - 2 pounds of boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 cup of bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of milk
- Garlic salt - to season
- Seasoned salt - to season
- Pepper - to season
- Spray Olive Oil
Sauce
- 1 large can of tomato sauce - 14 - 16 ounces
- 1 Tablespoon of Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon of ground oregano
- 1 teaspoon of sweet basil
- 1 Tablespoon of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of garlic salt
- ½ teaspoon of seasoned salt and Pepper - to taste
- 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
Topping
- 1 container sliced Parmesan cheese
- Fresh Italian flat leaf parsley
- chopped finely
Instructions
