I can’t stress enough how much I love these Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cupcakes. Not only do they have a strawberry right on top, but they also have a strawberry hidden on the inside of the chocolate cupcake as well. Yum! Yum! Yum!
Why limit yourself to just one tasty strawberry per cupcake when you can easily have two? I know for a fact that these chocolate strawberry cupcakes are going to be a hit in your house!

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cupcakes
We’re at a standstill in our house when it comes to trying to decide between chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate cupcakes.
This is how the reality of this recipe was formed. We decided that we no longer had to separate the two and instead created one epic delicious cupcake that everyone in our house loves!

How to Make Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cupcakes
The ingredients you will need to make these Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cupcakes are in this picture below. However, I have the full ingredients and recipe to print out towards the bottom of the page.
Chocolate Strawberry Cupcakes
This recipe starts with a boxed cake mix making this recipe easy and perfect to make together as a family!
What’s needed:
- Chocolate cake mix + all ingredients to make it**
- 24 strawberries
- 1 ½ cups milk chocolate chips
- ½ cup red candy melts
- 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1-2 tbsp milk
- 1 drop (about half a dime) pink gel food coloring
Let’s get baking…. These cupcakes are too delicious to wait any longer.

Start by mixing together everything you need to make your chocolate cake batter.

Once done, bake according to the directions on the box.

Once cooled, you can start with the following directions.
Line a pan with wax paper. Microwave chocolate chips in 30-second intervals until completely melted.

Dip 12 of the strawberries in the melted chocolate and place gently on lined pan.
Microwave red candy melts in 30-second intervals until completely melted – stir between each interval.
Scoop melted candy in a piping bag and drizzle each chocolate-covered strawberry. Allow to set.
Carve out a cavity in each cupcake. Use a paring knife to carve out a circle in the center of each cupcake, about one inch in diameter and one inch deep.

Cut off the top of the remaining strawberries and insert one in each cupcake.
In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together butter, confectioners’ sugar and milk on low speed.
Once the ingredients are well-combined, add a drop of pink gel food coloring.

Mix until buttercream is completely tinted.

Scoop buttercream in a piping bag – cut off the tip and frost each cupcake.

Place one chocolate-covered strawberry on each cupcake. Serve and enjoy!
