Sunflower Cupcakes
We’ve been lucky enough to live near a lovely sunflower field that you’re able to visit and walk through. We try and visit it each year with the kids. Sunflower fields bring a happy feeling, and the kids always get a massive kick out of flowers taller then they are.

If you are serving these sunflower cupcakes at a party, you could have your guest plant a flower in the pot after their done eating the cupcake! This idea would be so much fun especially for your child’s spring or summer outdoor birthday party.
How to Make Sunflower Cupcakes

Flower Cupcakes
This recipe only calls for a few ingredients and if you use a boxed cake mix and store-bought icing this amazing shark theme recipe will be done in minutes.
- 6 Prepared Cupcakes
- Yellow Funfetti Frosting
- Green Decorating Icing Tube
- Brown Jimmie Sprinkles
- 6 Terra Cotta Pots (3in by 3in)
- Leaf Piping Tip
You’ll want to make sure your cupcakes are cool to the touch before decorating (or else your buttercream will melt/slide right off!)

Place piping tip in an icing bag or Ziploc baggie. Add frosting to the bag and start piping little leaf shapes going around the outside of the cupcake. Make sure to lift up after you stop piping each leaf so it gives you a point.

Go twice around the outside of the cupcake. Repeat step with the other cupcakes.

Spoon brown jimmies into the middle of the cupcakes.

With the green icing squeeze a small dot in-between the petal layers to create green leaves. I left some without, but you can put leaves on all of them if you’d like.

Place your sunflower cupcakes inside the pots. If a cupcake is smaller and you’re afraid it’ll sink down too much, then turn an empty cupcake liner upside down and place it in the pot then set the cupcake on top of the bottom of the liner.
