Teddy Bear Cookies

These Teddy Bear Cookies are almost too cute to eat.

Ingredients

  • Your favorite recipe for sugar cookies (we used an instant mix)
  • 4-5 oz. light brown fondant**
  • 1-2 oz. pink fondant
  • 1-2 oz. black fondant
  • Circular cookie cutter, about 1.5 inches in diameter
  • Small bowl of water + brush (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare cookies according to recipe’s/instant mix’s directions.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat oven according to sugar cookie’s
    recipe.
  • Roll out the cookie dough until it’s about ⅓ of an inch thick.
  • Using the circular cookie cutter, cut one dozen circles from your cookie dough. Place
    gently on lined baking sheet.
  • Bake according to recipe’s directions and allow to cool completely before decorating.
  • Roll out brown fondant until it’s about ¼ of an inch thick.
  • Use cookie cutter to cut out 12 fondant circles.
  • Press one fondant circle on each cookie.
  • To assemble one bear:
Roll out 2 small spheres out of the brown fondant, about ⅓ of an inch in size. Flatten each one out until it’s a circle that’s ½ an inch in size.
  • Roll out 2 small spheres out of the pink fondant, about ¼ of an inch in size. Flatten each one and press onto brown fondant circles.
  • Place on top of cookie - these will act as the bear’s ears.
  • Roll out a piece of brown fondant, about 1 inch in size and flatten it to create a smooth
circle, about 1 inch in diameter.
  • Place on the lower middle portion of the cookie.
  • Roll out one small pink sphere, about ⅓ of an inch in size. Flatten slightly and place in the center on the one inch circle that was just secured on the cookie. This will act as the bear’s nose.
  • Roll out 2 black fondant circles, about ¼ of an inch in size. Place both just above the one inch circle - they will act as the bear’s eyes.

  • Roll out one small black fondant strip and give it an arch. Place just underneath the nose - this will act like the bear’s smile.
  • Use a paring knife to score little lines down the middle of the round fondant base. These will act as the bear’s “sewed stitches.”
  • Optional: brush some water on the back of the fondant pieces to help secure them on the
    cookie.

    Serve and enjoy!

Notes

**To achieve a light brown shade, add 2 small drops of brown gel food coloring into 4-5 oz. of white fondant and knead until completely tinted
