How to Make Chocolate Truffles for Easter
When you’re ready to get started, follow these simple instructions to create your own special Easter goodies:
Step by Step Instructions
Add the semi sweet chocolate, butter, salt, and cream to the double boiler bowl or pot. Have the water at a slow boil or simmer to ensure the chocolate doesn’t overheat. Be careful not to get any water into the chocolate truffle mixture!
Stir or whisk until completely smooth.
Allow the chocolate to cool on on the counter for a few minutes, continuing to whisk to help it cool.
Pour the melted chocolate directly into your silicone molds.
Set the trays into the fridge or freezer and allow them to fully harden, about 1 hour depending on the size of the molds.
When they are hard, stick a toothpick into each truffle then put the trays in the freezer for at least a few minutes or up to a few days before dipping in the coating.

Melt a combination of the purple and white chocolate according to package instructions.
You’ll want to be careful not to overheat this and/or plan to let it cool for a few minutes before dipping the truffles in it.
The heat from the colored chocolate can instantly melt even frozen truffles leaving a little bit of a messy finish, just something to keep in mind.
Tap off any excess chocolate and immediately put on the sprinkles.

The coating chocolate should harden almost instantly so you’ll want to work quickly and one at a time to ensure the sprinkles can be added before it hardens.
Either hold the toothpick until it has hardened (this is really fast if they were in the freezer so it doesn’t really add much time) or use something from your home to set the toothpick down into or you can remove it then and set it into the candy wrappers.
That's it!
These are fantastic at both room temperature and when chilled. We stored these Easter Truffles in the fridge for about a week.
I really enjoy making special Easter treats for my friends and family. There’s some Easter candy we love getting from the store too. (Jelly Belly anyone?) But homemade Easter truffles and candies are definitely a favorite. Plus, it’s fun to customize my little Easter truffles and goodies for each loved one. I try to use their favorite colors and flavors when I can.
Homemade Spring Chocolate Truffles
Preserving Chocolate Easter Truffles
With so much to do to get ready for Easter Sunday, you might be wondering whether or not this chocolate truffle recipe can be made ahead. Thankfully, there are options for storing your Easter truffles that won’t result in melted chocolates on the big day.
Here are some tips to help you preserve chocolate Easter truffles in advance:
How do you keep chocolate truffles from melting?
The gloves I mentioned above will help you keep your chocolate truffles from melting while you’re forming these special Easter chocolates. Chilling the mixture before forming your truffles can help prevent melting too. After your Easter truffles are formed, they should hold up well at room temperature.
How long do homemade chocolate truffles last in the fridge?
Your homemade chocolate Easter truffles will hold up well on the counter at room temperature for about 3 days. If you’d like to keep them fresh for longer, you can keep these homemade chocolate truffles in the fridge for up to a week. That way, you’ll have plenty of time to prep them for Easter baskets and Easter Sunday treats.
Can I keep these chocolate Easter truffles in the freezer?
Need more time? You can keep your chocolate Easter truffles in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a month. However, you should expect that truffles stored in the freezer may have firmer centers than fresh chocolate truffles.
